Why 80% off?

For years we made one kind of boot: the pair you put on every morning without thinking about it. Full-grain leather and suede, cut thick enough to hold its shape and soft enough to break in, on soles that take city pavement and a muddy weekend alike. John Wayde is closing its doors, and the pairs still on the shelf are going at a fraction of what they cost us. The shop is still open and every order still ships as usual — but there is no next season and no restock.

Description

The cap-toe boot on a deep lug sole, in waxy full-grain leather that takes on character with every wear. Built for cold mornings, wet pavement and long weekends outside.

  • Full-grain leather upper with a waxed, oily finish
  • Stitched cap toe
  • Lace-up front with metal eyelets
  • Deep lug rubber sole
Fit & sizing

True to size: measure your foot and pick the closest size in the guide. Between two sizes, take the larger one. Wide foot or high instep: go one full size up.

If you are between two sizes, take the larger one — it softens and settles to your foot within the first week.

Care
  • Brush with a soft brush or wipe with a slightly damp cloth after each wear.
  • Let them dry away from direct heat — never in the sun or near a fire.
  • Condition the leather every few weeks so it does not dry out.
  • Store them in a cool, dry place, stuffed with paper to keep their shape.

It looks better with every scuff

The leather

It looks better with every scuff

Thick, waxy full-grain leather that darkens and creases where your foot bends. That is not wear showing — it is the leather settling into your shape, the way good boots are supposed to.

Grip you can see

The sole

Grip you can see

Deep rubber lugs run the length of the sole, so wet leaves, slush and gravel are not a problem. It sits a little higher than a city boot and feels planted with every step.

Up close

Every detail, made to last

The Hayes Lug-Sole Boot — Tobacco
  1. Full-Grain Leather

Cut from full-grain leather — the top layer of the hide and the strongest part of it. It softens and shapes to your foot over the first weeks, and it does not crack or peel.

  2. Stitched Cap Toe

A second layer of leather stitched across the toe — the part of a boot that meets kerbs and stairs first.

  3. Deep Lug Rubber Sole

Deep rubber lugs for real grip in rain, mud and gravel.

No. This is the final run. When a size sells out, it leaves the site for good — if you find yours available, it is the last time you will.

Yes — a leather care kit: a horsehair brush, leather conditioner and a polishing cloth. It goes in the parcel automatically, no code needed.
